The Carrapateena mine site is located in South Australia on the eastern margin of the Gawler Craton. As one of Australia’s largest undeveloped copper deposits, this project will be a 4.25 Mtpa underground operation, with an estimated mine life of 20 years.

Whittens was engaged to the carry out the detailed earthworks and concrete works required for the Minerals Processing Plant and Non-Process Infrastructure. Under an aggressive schedule, Whittens commenced works onsite at the Carrapateena project in July 2018 and reached a peak direct manning onsite of around 110 direct employees during the period from November 2018 to February 2019.

Approximately 11,000m3 of structural concrete was installed, along with 1400T of steel reinforcement and 23,000m3 of detailed earthworks.
