Snowy 2.0 is a pumped hydro project that will increase the generation capacity of the Snowy Mountains Scheme by up to 2,200MW and at full capacity will provide approximately 350,000MW/h of energy storage. The project will deliver one of the largest pumped hydro schemes in the world and underscores the importance of the Snowy Scheme’s role in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
The project includes all activities associated with the requirements for the Snowy 2.0 Pumped Hydro-electric Scheme, including construction of intake and outlet structures at both Tantangara and Talbingo reservoirs in the NSW Alpine region.
Whittens was engaged by principal contractor Future Generation Joint Venture to build the worker camps at Tantangara and also at Joule Ridge, Cooma.
The scope of work included:
- Assembling and erection of accommodation modular buildings.
- All building assembly works including roofs, framing, walkways, internal walls, flashings, fire proofing, ceilings, external stairs and co-ordinate with service installers.
- Co-ordinate service connections and internal reticulation including fire, water, sewer and electrical.
- Co-ordinate the other contractors placing services within the buildings.
