Whittens constructed a new sealed road south of the rail corridor and Whaleback Mine administration centre, including two culvert and waterway crossings over Mt Whaleback Creek.

The road connects two access points – one to the west and one to the east – providing a sealed, durable link with associated drainage works to ensure effective water management.
