South Walker Creek Debottleneck Project Contract Award

Whittens is pleased to announce the award of a new contract with Sedgman Pty Limited as part of Stanmore’s South Walker Creek Debottleneck Project for the mine expansion.

South Walker Creek is an open-cut mine located 35 kilometers west of Nebo in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. Whittens will deliver the concrete package for a new coal handing facility that will be built within Stanmore’s Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP).

The works involve installation of ground slabs, walls, footings, piling and suspended slabs for several structures, as well as detailed earthworks. Whittens will also install underground services site-wide, including low voltage and high voltage conduits. This is the eleventh contract that Whittens will deliver for Sedgman since 2012.

The South Walker Project Team will be led by Daniel Stainbank, alongside familiar faces from our recent Olive Downs and MAR Crossings Stage 2 Projects.

“It is an exciting time for Whittens, and we are proud to support Stanmore, our other Queensland clients and the local community. We have an excellent long-standing relationship with Sedgman and we are keen to safely deliver this project to their expectations, whilst working alongside Stanmore within an operating mine.”

On the back of continued growth in Queensland, Whittens recently opened a new office in Mackay. We look forward to securing more work in the Mackay region and further out into Central and North Queensland.
