Whittens Win 2023 CCF WA Earth Award for Iron Bridge Project

We are pleased to announce that Whittens has won the ‘Excellence in Civil Construction: Project Value $30-75 Million’ for our Iron Bridge Project at the 2023 CCF WA Earth Awards.

Whittens delivered the earthworks, roadworks, drainage and concrete installation for FMG’s Concentrate Handling Facility and Concentrate Diversion Pond in Port Hedland from November 2021 to March 2023.

Our project team were able to overcome the challenges of completing works during the pandemic through early identification of risks and opportunities. Smart scheduling, efficient methodologies and the use of alternative materials enabled Whittens to reduce costs and disruptions to schedule.

We are incredibly proud of our achievements and would like to thank Civil Contractors Federation WA for this prestigious award and for their ongoing commitment to recognising excellence within our industry.

We would also like to express our gratitude to Fortescue for being an amazing client, and finally, to our remarkable Iron Bridge team, as well as everyone who supported the project at our Head Office. This award is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of our teams’ unwavering commitment to excellence.

The WA Earth Awards are the Western Australian civil construction industry’s annual celebration of infrastructure project excellence.
