The complex concrete structures of the Carrapateena Project required detailed planning and management for successful execution of the works.

One of these highly complex structures was the Ball and Sag Mill concrete plinths containing 930m3 of concrete combined. This was due to the shape and intricate cast in item detail. Whittens successfully delivered the mass pour of this structure which was thermally managed through using formwork insulation, low heat cement and pouring at night.
